Training and Behavior Consultant
Thanks to several generous grants, we are excited to announce the addition of MarLee Thompson to the PAWS Atlanta staff! She will be working with our long-term dogs on a variety of skills that will help them live their best lives. The longer an animal remains in a shelter, the more difficult it can be for them to find a home. Stress and frustration can lead to animals acting out and exhibiting unwanted behaviors. MarLee teaches these pups new skills and training, resulting in an even stronger chance of them finding the right forever home.
MarLee has ten years of experience as a behavior consultant and trainer working with owned dogs, most adopted from rescue. She's excited to move into this new position because it allows her to focus on helping animals before they are placed in homes. Her work will also help animals stay in their adoptive homes after leaving PAWS Atlanta, providing consultations to families who have adopted dogs from us.
MarLee runs her own business as well, providing private consults and lessons through her company, MarLee & Me Dog Training, LLC, though she's not currently accepting any new clients. (Give her a follow on social media!). Outside of all of this incredible work, MarLee enjoys creative writing, reading, and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
When asked who her favorite animal at PAWS Atlanta is right now, she enthusiastically answered, "Piggy! She is such an intelligent, sweet, athletic girl. She has made tremendous progress in training already." It's amazing to see how our pups are already making huge strides with MarLee in the month since she joined our team. We can't wait to see even more fruits of her labor!
