The Best Fish in the Sea

Fish's Story

Fish (previously Newton at PAWS) dropped in on our team unexpectedly one afternoon. A staff member walking through the parking lot noticed a cat carrier sitting in the donation drop off area outside our gate. While this isn't unusual, as people often donate gently used crates and carriers, we always check for any animals who might be inside. At first, our staff didn't think any cats had been left behind, as the carrier was empty. However, upon further inspection, we realized that a cat had escaped the carrier and was hiding under the flap of a cardboard box of towels. That cat was Fish.

Once Fish recovered from the initial shock of his new situation, he showed us his sweet, playful personality. Even through his intake exam, he rubbed his face against us and rolled around on the clinic table. He seemed to be unphased by his difficult day and took to us immediately. After our vet team determined, he was healthy, Fish was ready to go to the Cat Cottage and meet potential adopters!

After a few days in the Cat Cottage, Fish was struggling a bit. Not all the cats were receptive to his overly friendly energy and he was being bullied by some of the other cats in the room. Thankfully, we found the perfect foster home for him where we could learn even more about his silly personality. Fish spent a few months in his foster home, receiving tons of love and being the star of his foster parents' Instagram. He showed off his photogentic side and did his best to get to know his cat foster siblings (though he came on a bit strong for their liking). All Fish wanted was to make friends. He was a social guy, and, being abandoned hadn't put a damper on his personality. The fun family he craved was out there somewhere, and we were determined to find it for him!

After two months in his foster home, someone submitted an adoption application for him! They'd seen him on his foster parents' Instagram and messaged them to get to know a little more about Fish. This prospective adopter was looking for a playful kitty, young but not a kitten, and a cat who would do well as a single pet. One look at Fish, and she knew he would be perfect. They set up a time to meet at PAWS Atlanta, and the rest is history!

Fish went home with his new adopter that day. Only a few days later, Fish was set up with his very own Instagram account to keep all his fans updated with his antics. We love seeing how well he's doing, and he's definitely found the perfect home. He's so loved and is finally living the life of his dreams!
