Flying Home

Bumblebee's Story

Bumblebee first arrived at PAWS Atlanta in November of 2023. He'd been wandering outside at only five months old, so we were glad he found his way to the safety of our shelter. Despite his confusing first few months, he was full of love and energy. He took to us immediately and had a blast getting to know all the staff and volunteers. Once he was ready for adoption, our team started bringing him to off-site events at local pet supply stores, breweries, and Puppy Therapy sessions. His fun enthusiasm made him a hit at each event, but he would always return to the shelter at the end of the day to continue to wait for his forever family.

As Bumblebee grew, we were worried that he might spend a long time at the shelter. Though he was playful and silly, his high energy level was difficult to appease. He needed tons of daily enrichment, more than we could offer him at the shelter, which can sometimes lead to frustration and behavior challenges over time. He could come on strong with new people, jumping up to meet them purely out of excitement, but this often overwhelmed potential adopters. Bumblebee was a good boy, he just needed someone to give him a chance.

Luckily, that chance came along in April of 2024. After a brief stint in a foster home, where he was able to finally get out some of his big puppy energy, someone submitted an application to meet him. They seemed like the perfect family, so we kept our fingers crossed and told Bumblebee to be on his best behavior. Luckily, this new potential family loved his joyful energy. They had another dog who needed an enthusiastic friend just like Bumblebee as a playmate. They fell in love with his big pointy ears and black snout, and he headed to his new home!

Though it's been over a year and a half, Bumblebee's mom recently sent us a message to let us know how he's doing. In short, he's living the dream. She says, "Bumble Bee is still super energetic and enthusiastic about life and can never quite seem to sit still (and you guys probably thought he was never going to get adopted because of it!), but he has grown to become the sweetest, most well-behaved dog who is always seeking to please. He absolutely loves food/treats, walks/hikes, car rides, playing with his sister (our other rescue dog), warm snuggles, and any toy you give him. We are truly grateful for everything you guys do for these dogs. I know Bumble Bee sure has made our lives more complete!"

Our little Bumblebee is still exactly where he belongs - with people who love him for exactly who he is.
