It is PAWS Atlanta's mission to place our animals in safe, secure and loving homes. Our first responsibility is to the animals in our care, thus our adoption policies and procedures are in place to be certain that the animals go to great homes.

We generally have several kittens and puppies to adopt, but please consider the benefits of adopting an adult animal. Most of our adult animals are already house-trained, and many of them have already learned basic obedience skills.   If you are interested in adopting a dog less then one year old, please fill out the puppy application, a dog older then one year old, please fill out the dog application.  Puppies are wonderful, but have challenges that adopters should be aware of before committing to shape a young dogs life and personality.

All of our animals are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, dewormed, and given an ID microchip under the skin. All dogs six months or older have been tested for heartworm, and all cats have been tested for FeLv and FIV. PAWS Atlanta adopts out animals only believed to be in good health. You are required to use the free health exam certificate within seven (7) days of the adoption. After that exam, you agree that any veterinary costs will be your responsibility.

Our goal is to find the BEST homes for our pets and to make this an exciting and wonderful experience for you and your family. Therefore we have strict policies for adoption.

We work only on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore we do not hold or reserve pets. 

No person will be promised an adoption until the following procedures have been completed:

1. Full completion of an Adoption Application

2. Interview by PAWS Atlanta Adoption Counselor

3. Approval of your application for the specific animal that interests you

4. Completion of paperwork to assume ownership of the animal

5. Payment of adoption fee: $175 for dogs, $100 for cats (additional donations gratefully accepted). We accept cash and credit cards. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS.

Renters: you must show proof of approval to own a pet by providing PAWS Atlanta a copy of your lease including information on pet deposits and the name and phone number of your landlord or leasing agent.
